Can't find a book at our library? Ask our staff about interlibrary loan!

Our library is connected to other libraries throughout the state and nation. If you can't find an item in this library, ask library staff to help you get it from another library.

Coon Rapids Public Library is part of a vast network of participating libraries that are willing to loan out materials to other libraries.  Our library does buy books and materials that we feel are most requested by our patrons.  However, because of limited resources and space, we simply can’t purchase everything that is published, but we may be able to borrow it from another library. This is called inter-library loan.

If our library does not own the book or CD that you are looking for, ask the staff to request it for you from another library. There is no charge for borrowing the item itself, but we do ask for $1.00 per item to help offset the postage it takes to ship the item to/from the borrowing library. Most of the items are delivered to our library in 7-14 working days. The loan periods vary, but generally you're able to keep the item(s) at least 3 weeks.  The staff will inform you of the loan period and due date when you pick up the item(s).

Our library uses SILO Interlibrary loan to borrow items from other Iowa libraries and OCLC Interlibrary loan to borrow items from libraries around the United States.
